Asunto Oy Kokkovuori has been awarded the BREEAM Design Stage certificate with a rating of Very Good. This marks the second Design Stage BREEAM certificate in Finland. The first was granted to Apartment Corporation Espoon Zeniitti in April of this year. Premico, acting on behalf of Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing (MSREI), serves as the construction consultant for both projects. Premico has also been responsible for establishing the certification system for both projects.
Constructed by Fira, the 121-unit rental housing complex consists of two apartment buildings in Haukilahti, Espoo, with excellent transportation connections. Among the apartments, 70 are studios and one-bedroom units, while the remaining units are family-sized. The average size of the apartments is approximately 52 square meters. Similar to the previous BREEAM-certified project, each unit features a designated workspace for remote work. Additionally, the project places particular emphasis on the quality and functionality of common spaces. The estimated completion for the project is late summer 2023.
BREEAM certification is one of the most widely used Environmental Assessment Methods and sustainability rating systems in Europe for construction. A certified property meets specific criteria for sustainable development and undergoes an external audit. Sweco conducted the environmental consulting and assessment for the project, including carbon footprint calculations, life-cycle cost comparisons, and daylight assessments. The final BREEAM certification for the second stage will be pursued upon project completion
